Ireland has a very rich history of traditional music, song and dance, which dates back, it could be argued, to the misty times of our ancient Celtic past. On this tour you will learn about these unique musical styles, the instruments and the enrapturing stories associated with them. We will also introduce you to historic musical occasions in Dublin’s past from the baroque to the rock. On the tour itself we may not be able to experience live performance, but we will certainly explain the background and play recordings of appropriate examples

Take A Closer Look

There is no better time to enjoy a walk around the city exploring the city’s rich inheritance of music than when the annual Trad Fest is in full motion. In the company of one of our music-loving professional guides this will be an excellent opportunity to get inside the fascinating tradition of Irish music which goes back centuries, if not millennia. Many of our native instruments and musical forms are peculiar to our Celtic past and have evolved to satisfy modern needs while maintaining their sense of originality. Of course, Irish traditional music is not isolated from other genres and sometimes shaped and inspired the styles that followed including baroque and classical, right up to rock and beyond. Immerse yourself in all of this cultural richness and then maybe book into one of the Trad Fest venues for a performance to remember.
