Yes, if they are aged under 12. Must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

65 and over

Generally, yes, but occasionally a variation of the route may be necessary to avoid steps. The guide is not in a position to push wheelchairs so if this is necessary the wheelchair user must have a companion for this purpose.

Distances we cover are approx. 2 – 3km (1.5 – 2 miles) at a leisurely pace. Tour itineraries and descriptions can be found under the various tour pages.

  • The Best of Dublin Highlights and Hidden Corners tour (in English & German) leaves from under the Tree of Gold Statue, Central Plaza, corner of Dame Street and Fownes Street, Dublin 2.
  • For Special Public Tours see the departure point noted for that particular tour.
  • For private tours the guide can meet you anywhere at your convenience in the city centre including your hotel.
Bus: Many public buses serve our starting points. Only exact coins to the amount of the fare are accepted in cash. Otherwise, you can buy a LEAP Travel Card from Dublin Bus on Upper O’Connell Street or from designated newsagents.
Tram/LUAS: The tram (Luas) also has stops near to our departures. For the Dublin Highlights Tour, the RED Line Luas stop is Abbey Street or for the Cross City GREEN line it is Westmoreland Street or Trinity College (depending on direction). You can pay the fare by cash or credit card at the ticket machine on each platform.
Taxi: There are a number of taxi ranks in the city centre, including on Foster Place and College Green (beside Trinity College). The ‘Free Now’ taxi app is also an easy way to reserve a taxi. Taxis operate on meters and a tip of 10% to 15% is appreciated.

For tours departing from the Tree of Gold the nearest car park is the Trinity Street Car Park off Trinity Street (Coordinates: 53.3438° N, 6.2626° W) or the Brown Thomas Car Park (near Grafton Street) (Coordinates: 53.3425° N, 6.2615° W)

Rain or shine, the tour is on! Dublin has on average 11 rainy days and 70mm of rain per month. That’s less than, say, Brussels (Belgium) and not significantly more than Frankfurt (Germany). If it does rain in Dublin, chances are it will not last for long. Our guides will know a suitable shelter for very heavy showers. Given our climate, as you might expect, no ticket can be cancelled or refunded on the day due to weather conditions unless the conditions are unsafe due to extreme storms or icy conditions. Ticket & Booking Questions

Where can I book a public tour and buy a tour ticket?

On our website, from your agent or from an official tourist office in Dublin. It is necessary to book in advance as we may not be able to accept ‘walk-ups’ if the tour is full or cancelled.

Please visit our Private Tours booking pages and fill up our online form or just email us directly to info@walkingtours.ie and outline your request. We usually reply inside 48 hours.

You will receive a booking confirmation email with all necessary details

If convenient do so but we also accept a visual image of your ticket from a mobile device.

On busy days we may not always be able to accommodate everybody, so booking in advance is necessary. Also, if nobody is booked on a tour 24 hours beforehand we may cancel that tour.

Full refund for cancellations received at least 48 hours before the tour commences, and a 50% refund if the tour is cancelled within 48 to 24 hours of the tour commencing. There is no refund on tours cancelled within 24 hours of the tour commencing.

The ticket is valid only for the time and date specified. While every care is taken by our guides, and walking is only along public or approved places, all tours are undertaken at participants’ own risk. However, your statutory rights are not affected.
