Take a Closer Look

Benjamin Lee Guinness became Dublin’s first Lord Mayor in a reconstituted City Council. After the unfolding of this story, we will pass by the statue of William Conyngham, 4th Baron Plunket and husband to Anne Guinness. From there we will see the Guinness family home on St Stephen’s Green, Iveagh House. Then we will meet Lord Ardilaun (Arthur Guinness), the philanthropist who presented his restored St Stephen’s Green to the people of Ireland. An interesting and historic walk will then take us to St Patrick’s Cathedral, restored by the munificence of Benjamin Lee Guinness. Continuing from there we will pass through St Patrick’s Park to view the magnificent housing and educational facilities built by Lord Iveagh (Edward Guinness) for the poor of Dublin. Next, we will pass through Dublin Castle and Temple Bar to cross over the River Liffey (once the main transport route from the Brewery to the ships that brought Guinness to the wider world) and on to our finish and warm introduction to your own perfect pouring of a delicious pint of the brew (included).
