Romantic Dublin with a nod to St Valentine!

14.02.25

Dublin’s history has seen many travails but in past centuries of wars, pestilence and poverty, there was always time for love encounters to emerge and catch the public imagination. Also, the super-rich Irish mythology spawned many a love match in its tales of heroes and captivating princesses. Sites around the city evoke many of these stories which will unfold as the tour winds around the more hidden parts of the city. Then there is the connection between St Valentine and Dublin! But more about that on the walk!

Take A Closer Look

On St Valentine’s Day, 14th February, enjoy a romantic stroll around Dublin, hearing tales of mythological, legendary and historical figures, whose love stories have endured into modern times. Be warned that it seems to be a common thread that several of these fascinating unions have rather tragic outcomes! Our encounters will include a visit to a church where, unbelievably, the mortal remains of St Valentine are kept. Yes, the great man lies in rest, not in Rome where he was first interred, but in a casket in a Dublin monastery! We will end the tour in a former church, where a famous marriage or two took place, and where you will be offered two romantic drinks for the price of one!
