Special: Celebrate the Anniversary of Handel’s Messiah

George Frideric Handel was one of the greatest composers of the 18th century, and on the 13th of April 1742 he premiered his masterpiece Messiah here in Dublin. Join Pat Liddy as he celebrates the anniversary of this incredible performance on his very special annual Handel’s Messiah Walking Tour!

This unique tour will take in many of the major places connected with Handel's stay in Dublin during 1741 and 1742, and hear the stories of the amazing first performance of his masterpiece. Extracts from Handel’s memorable works, and those of his contemporaries who also visited Dublin, will be heard along the way. Our walk, filled with surprising titbits of information, will finish in time to attend the live performance of Messiah extracts, which takes place at 1:00 PM on Fishamble Street, where it was performed for the first time 277 years ago.
