Take a Closer Look

Dublin in the 18th century attracted musical giants, composers and performers alike, such as Thomas Rosengrave, George Frederic Handel, Thomas Arne, William Dubourg, Francesco Geminiani and many more. We annually celebrate all this genius on the anniversary of the world’s premiere performance of Handel’s Messiah, which took place on the 13th April 1742. During our walk we will visit or pass by places associated with the musical events or the Dublin experiences of these famous visitors. Along the way we will play extracts from their musical works to add a bit of atmosphere. We would usually finish the tour at the site of the at first performance of Messiah in time to hear the very special annual street performance of Messiah traditionally held at 1.00pm (note: we cannot guarantee that this will actually take place in 2022 until it is confirmed nearer to the date).
