Did you know that Halloween actually originated in Ireland? Did you know that the author of the famous undead Dracula was Irish? Did you know that many Gothis writers were Irish? In this walk you will experience chilling extracts from four Gothic novels from Wilde, Maturin, Le Fanu and, of course, Bram Stoker. Ghostly or gruesome true stories will stalk you in Trinity College, City Hall, Dublin Castle, the medieval City Steps and the Brazen Head pub before entering the crypt of St Michan’s where hundreds of bodies lie in final, mummified peace. If you wish so, you may be allowed shake a hand with a mummy! From there a tram ride will bring you to the stark Famine Statues before stepping on board the famine ship, the Jeannie Johnston, for a tour and to hear about cholera burials of the un-dead and a final salute to Dracula!
